Seven years ago, the planes of existence split apart. That was rather unexpected for the humans of the realm, but the gods assured them that this happens sometimes. When the army from another plane invaded, the ten deities recruited the more-or-less faithful to save the world.
Many cities were razed to the ground or fell into rapidly opening rifts in the fabric of the Multiverse. But parts of humanity survived when the newly recruited paladins called upon their gods to lend them strength, and the mages cast spells hitherto unimaginable.
The war ended three years ago. It would be overly charitable to say that humanity won, but at some point, the attacks stopped. The enemy had run out of soldiers, dragons, or patience.
The planar rifts stayed open, however. Even the most powerful deities cannot mend the fabric of the Multiverse, so humanity focuses its efforts on creating barriers against future invasions by their extraplanar neighbours.
Understandably, everyone is a little on edge. __________________________________________________________________________________ Paladin and Necromancer is an upcoming Dark Fantasy Romance Mystery set in a DnD-inspired world. It's a funny, tragic, heartbreaking, and fast-paced adventure. It is also inclusive, (disability, gender, mental health) and delves deep into character motivations and dynamics.
